QUICK TIPS

  • CHECK FOR LEAKS! Check your toilet flappers and fill valves periodically along with any other water fixtures in the household or commercial building.  Although a dripping faucet might seem small, that water is running 24/7 and over time it will put a huge burden on your septic system.
  • Know the location of your septic tank and cesspools. Knowing the location of your system components saves our technicians lots of time spent locating, which in turn will save YOU money.
  • All covers should have risers on them for easy access, this will save YOU money on digging in the future.
  • Do not dump cooking oils and other chemicals down the drain. Your septic system is not a garbage disposal.
  • Convert to using more organic cleaning products that are less harmful to the environment
  • There are no such thing as “flushable” wipes. Paper towels, napkins, plastic products and feminine products, all go in the garbage.
  • Don’t plant any trees or shrubs over your cesspool septic tank or main lines
  • If you are having a backup on the second floor or higher, most likely you have a blockage in the line. When you cesspools or septic tank is full you will have a backup in the basement or 1st floor, wherever the lowest drain is located.
  • Keep all storm water runoff directed away from your septic system. Roof leaders parking lot drains, French drains etc.
  • Water conservation is key
  • Be conscious of water usage in the household. Long showers, dishwasher and washing machines all place a heavy load on the system. Try to spread out laundry loads throughout the week to prevent overloading the system
